Through the traditional excavation method, a pipe defect is usually
pinpointed using a video sewer
camera and a electronic locator. Next
the damaged section is excavated and replaced with a new section
of root proof pipe using high strength coupling.
When replacing all or a large section of the sewer line using the
traditional method, the section to be replaced is simply excavated
using a backhoe, or manual method, and the existing sewer line is
replaced using new root proof pipe, fittings, and high strength couplings.
Traditional sewer replacement methods require specialized permits,
training, and equipment when the excavated depth exceeds five feet.
After completion of a traditional repair or replacement, the
site is backfilled lawns and landscaping and other surface improvements
are restored, and the work area is cleaned to its pre-job condition.
Benefits of traditional sewer repairs
- Offers a lower cost alternative where problems are localized
or confined to a small section of pipe.
- Often these methods are the only options where
major defects or "bellys" in the sewer line do not make a trench
less option possible.
